Born in Slovakia, Yan ZORITCHAK is today considered as one of the major precurseurs in French Contemporary Glass Art. When he left Tchecoslovakia in 1970 to settle in France, the notion of sculpture in glass is almost inexistant. Yan ZORITCHAK works continually for the propagation of this artistic expression, and without any doubt we owe him a large part in the recognition of this art in glass as plastic and sculptural. He now occupies a highly preponderant place on the international scene and his creations can be discovered in more than forty museums world-wide. He finds his main source of inspiration in the universe : asteroids, comets, planets, galaxies ... These inaccessible horizons were presented for six months in 1996 at the Palais de la Découverte, Paris, by the Galerie Sordello in a fabulous personnal exhibition of Yan ZORITCHAK : " Man and the Universe ".
